About Humboldt Village

Humboldt Village is you and me and our neighbors cooperating in action-based efforts to enhance and build a more comprehensive and interconnected sense of community that addresses economic, environmental and resource consumption and conservation. A small working group of committed community members representing a broad array of socio-economic perspectives meets approximately bi-weekly in various Humboldt County locations. It is in these meetings and through informal conversations that Humboldt Village is implementing community participation projects that will strengthen our resilience as a geographically semi-isolated and primarily rural population against the vagaries of economic, environmental and resource instability. Projects Humboldt Village is presently implementing include: • HUMBucks-A local non-monetary exchange system. Beginning February 2012 • Local Free Market days where goods and services may be readily given and/or exchanged among local community members. Beginning Spring 2012 • Humboldt Village Talks-Monthly education and discussion group addressing various ecological, economic and resource topics and how we can address them locally, brainstorming local solutions to global predicaments. Beginning January 2012 In addition to implementing projects, Humboldt Village is committed to partnering with local not for profits and community groups with similar and complimentary goals and missions to help to build a strong, vibrant, resilient and healthy Humboldt County community
